Latin Name: Festuca glauca
Description: ‘Elijah Blue’ is a short-lived, low-growing, semi-evergreen, clump-forming ornamental grass noted for its glaucous, finely-textured, silver-blue foliage. Foliage forms a dome-shaped, porcupine-like tuft of erect to arching, needle-like blades radiating upward and outward to a height of 6-8″ (flower stems typically bring total clump height to 10-14″). Light green flowers with a purple tinge appear in terminal panicles atop stems rising above the foliage in late spring to early summer, but are not very showy. Flowers give way to buffy seed heads which some gardeners find attractive but others find detractive to both the symmetry of the plant and the foliage color. ‘Elijah Blue’ is one of the best of the blue fescues. Synonymous with Festuca ovina ‘Elijah Blue’ and Festuca ovina var. glauca ‘Elijah Blue’.
Description: Improved habit to this more upright form; not as relaxed and vase-shaped as M. s. ‘Zebrinus’. Green foliage is highlighted by dramatic horizontal golden bands. Reddish bronze plumes above the foliage in summer. Suitable specimen or in groups. Herbaceous.
Description: Pennisetum ‘Rubrum’ (Red Fountain Grass) – A clumping semi-evergreen grass 4-5+ feet tall with dark burgundy-red foliage and red plumes that rise above the foliage. This grass seems to be completely evergreen (red) in frost free zones, but goes deciduous with frost and it is root hardy to 20 degree F. Plant in full sun and water sparingly to control height. Looks best if it is cut back in late winter to expose new foliage. This clone rarely seeds out. Drought and heat resistant.
Description: Fountain grass is a very showy ornamental grass with graceful, arching leaves, and erect or nodding rose-colored flower spikes up to 12 in (30.5 cm) long. Fountain grass grows in dense, symmetrical clumps that can get 3-4 ft (0.9-1.2 m) tall and 2-3 ft (0.6-0.9 m) across with a fountain of feathery plumes flowing out of the foliage. ‘Cupreum’ has reddish stems and leaves, and copper-colored plumes. ‘Rubrum’ and ‘Purpureum’ are larger, to 5 ft (1.5 m) tall, with dark purple leaves and burgundy-red, nodding plumes to 15 in (38.1 cm) long. ‘Eaton Canyon’ is a miniature, to 30 in (76 cm) high, with burgundy-red foliage and plumes. These cultivars generally do not set seed, and therefore are good choices for tropical and subtropical climates where the species could become invasive.
Description: The Ornamental Grass, Pennisetum ‘Little Bunny’, Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Little Bunny’, is an extremely adaptable grass with a low level of maintenance care. This miniature Fountain Grass is ideal for rock gardens. With a plant height of 8-10″ and a spread of 12-24″, it is one of the smallest in its family. ‘Little Bunny’ should be planted in full sun to part shade and needs medium to wet moisture. The plumes on Little Bunny will appear from August to October, appearing whitish green. It is very suitable for border fronts, and the plumes can be used in fresh and dried flower arrangements. Fountain grass has no known pest or disease problems.
Description: A Sunny Border introduction that is head and shoulders better then the species or any other selections we have seen of P. orientale. Delightful fluffy rose pink flowers begin to appear in July and continue to form well into fall. A slowly spreading grass, it is a vigorous and reliable garden plant. Outstanding!
Description: (Maiden Grass) Miscanthus ‘Super Stripe’ PP18,161 is a new selection of Miscanthus sinensis that boasts more stripes than Miscanthus ‘Strictus or ‘Zebrinus’. In addition to the superior gold banding in the leaves, ‘Super Stripe’ is earlier flowering and more sturdy than its counterparts. Plant as a striking specimen plant at the back of a border or in the middle of an island bed. Also great as a large container plant!

Foliage is green with yellow bands; blade width is 1 cm (3/8″); 175-200 cm (70-80″) in height Flowers mid-Sept through frost; 200-250 cm (80-100″) full sun; moist fertile soil; tolerates a wide range of soil types; moderately drought tolerant; holds up to wind and snow
